Expertise

Two-fold wine expertise

Borie-Manoux is part of a group that controls trading houses, two online stores and eleven estates, sharing the expertise of its other businesses. As both a winegrower and a wine merchant, this two-fold expertise means it is at the heart of both winemaking and the wine trade. It knows all the secrets of wine: from planting the vines to marketing the wines!

Expertise

Borie-Manoux, first and foremost a Bordeaux merchant

Borie-Manoux’s main activities are the purchase and resale of finished wines from small Châteaux to Grands Crus Classés, as well as the selection and blending of wines bought in bulk, to offer ‘made-to-measure’ wines that meet current consumer demand. Borie-Manoux is not only a retailer, it is a brand creator and offers a wide and diversified range of products (over 3,000 references).

Recognition for Grands Crus Classés

The business is also famous for its sales network and its expertise in Grands Crus Classés. Philippe Castéja, CEO of Borie-Manoux and owner of a Premier Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Émilion and two Grands Crus Classés in the Médoc, the trading company offers almost all the Grands Crus Classés and is apportioned a large number of wines each year.

Background stockage

A production and storage site in Saint-Loubès

With the takeover of Grands Vins de Gironde in 2011 by the family holding company, Borie-Manoux has been able to decentralise its production and storage to the outskirts of Bordeaux. The Borie-Manoux production and storage site in Saint-Loubès has 200 stainless steel vats ranging from 25 to 1,000 hectolitres equipped with a temperature-control system, a temperature-controlled cellar for ageing 1,200 barrels and 5 labelling lines and 2 recovery lines. The fine wines are kept in an insulated, temperature-controlled cellar to ensure they are stored in optimum conditions.
