Domaine de Lamothe is located on one of the highest points in the commune of Sauternes. Known in 1814 as Lamothe d’Assault, it dominates the Ciron valley. A turbulent destiny meant that this property passed through many hands and was broken up into several pieces. Most of it was acquired in 1981 by Philippe and Jacques Guignard. Since then, they have developed a rigorous approach to quality, and thanks to their constant efforts, they have been able to give this cru the reputation and position it deserves.
