
Château Batailley, a 5th Cru of the classification of 1855, is Borie-Manoux's and the Castéja-family's flagship.


The Nantes area, with more than 13.000 hectares vineyards, is a particulary favoured region : besides delicious varietals wines, it presents two original regional "appellations".
Dry white wine, very refreshing. It is said to be the best wine to drink with oysters... It is also an excellent aperitif.
When sur lie, it shows the nobility of character of a regional appellation, very distinctive.
It is THE great regional "appellation".
A distinction is made between Muscadet Appellation Contrôlée, or generic, and Sèvre et Maine Muscadet, from the names of two rivers crossing the vineyards. Light and refreshing white wine, subtly fragant, it is ideal with sea-food, but also with poultry or spicy cheese.
When sur lie, it is slightly sparking, and shows the incomparable fineness of a great white wine from the Loire Valley.
From the Anjou to the Pouilly region, you travel through more than 30 vineyards of "appellations contrôlées".
Long journey, but so wonderfull ! The Kings of France knew it when they settled in the Loire Valley in their splendid castles, establishing the fame of this region in the whole world.
